Before founding Triangle Legal Solutions in April 2002, Ted Harper was a partner in the Raleigh office of the law firm Kilpatrick Stockton, where he was one of the leaders of the team of technology company lawyers.
Mr. Harper’s clients included companies in the information technology, medical devices, and pharmaceutical industries, and ranged from start-ups to technology divisions of Fortune 500 companies. His practice involved corporate and transactional matters, financing, developing business plans and strategies, and supervising employment, litigation, securities, benefits, and intellectual property specialists in providing client service.
Prior to joining Kilpatrick Stockton, Mr. Harper was associate general counsel at Seer Technologies, leading up to its IPO in 1995. He was chief operating officer of a start-up technology company in Long Beach, California, from 1990 to 1992. During the 1980s he was a partner in the law firm Graham & James, in its Los Angeles and Singapore offices, with an international corporate and transactional practice.
Mr. Harper has been a senior vice president of a business consulting company, president of a non-profit company, a member of the board of directors of a government R&D contractor, and a college instructor in astronomy. He has served on the board of NCEITA (which became the North Carolina Technology Association) and on the advisory board of the Council for Entrepreneurial Development (CED). He is a named inventor on two telecommunications patents.
Mr. Harper is admitted to the bars of North Carolina, California (currently inactive), and the U.S. Patent Office. He received his JD in 1979 from Boalt Hall at the University of California in Berkeley, and has an MBA and an undergraduate degree in physics.
